My role
I worked on the project as a UX/UI designer. My role included designing the mobile interface, joining online client meetings, and collaborating closely with the developer to make sure the design was not only visually consistent, but also clear and practical to implement.

Challenge
The main challenge was the tight timeline. The app had to be designed quickly, without the opportunity for a long discovery phase. The client had a general vision of how the app should work, and with the help of our project manager, we put together a roadmap and defined a list of requirements. From there, this meant I had to quickly figure out which functionality was essential to the app and translate it into the user experience as efficiently as possible.

Approach
After sketching out several concepts, we selected the most promising direction at this stage and, through several iterations, developed the visual style that the app would follow going forward. The next stage involved working through the user flow for our beta version and the MVP of the app, which would go into release on the App Store. The project also involved close communication with the client. Through online meetings, we were able to align on direction, respond to feedback, and keep the project moving at a steady pace. I also worked closely with the developer throughout the process to ensure that screens, states, and components were clear from an implementation standpoint.

Outcome
The result was a complete mobile app design offering an entirely new approach to dating. The project demonstrates that online dating can be fast and as safe as possible. Of course, the app doesn't guarantee complete freedom from negative experiences with unpleasant individuals. However, it does maximize the chances of finding someone you can enjoy chatting with over a cup of coffee or planning an activity together. The app is already available to download in the U.S. segment of the App Store, with an Android launch also planned.
